Safe and Fun Gymnastics

In March when the coronavirus started gymnastics gyms all over the world shut down. Since gymnasts weren’t at the gym this caused some gymnasts to lose skills. A solution that many gyms had was to make gymnastics Zoom calls. On the Zoom call the coaches would have workouts for gymnasts to do so they could still train while staying healthy and safe at home.

Once a lot gyms started to open gymnasts got back to practicing but since the virus was still going on all of the gymnast still had to be careful. To stop the spread all gymnasts are supposed to wear masks and social distance during practice. Some think it can be hard to wear a mask while working out but in my opinion I don’t mind wearing a mask at practice because it keeps me safe and protected.

Because gymnasts are using the equipment they can spread germs to anyone else that uses the equipment. For example, if I did my beam routine on a beam and then someone else used the same beam, my germs might spread to the next person. To avoid this, most gyms are disinfecting all equipment and keeping things sanitary. At my gym they use a huge sanitizing machine that sprays disinfectant.

I think that even when the virus starts going away many gyms will still be careful about spreading germs. Gymnastics has changed a lot since the start of the virus but I hope that in 2021 things get better and we can go back to normal!
